Lokmat initiates world's first statue of Freedom of Press

The world’s first statue of ‘Freedom of Press’ was unveiled at the hands of the Union Home Minister, Mr Sushilkumar Shinde on 13th October 2013 at Lokmat printing plant at Butibori, Nagpur. The statue symbolizes freedom of press all over the world and its installation is a tribute to all those journalists who laid down their lives and also to those still fighting for up-keeping the freedom of press. Although Lokmat took the lead, the event concerns each and every media person and publication. 16 of Maharashtra’s most senior journalists were felicitated during the programme.
